NBA 2K25 Cover Athletes Announced: Tatum, Wilson, and Carter Shine

Fans eagerly anticipate the reveal of the cover athletes for each new installment of popular sports video game series, and NBA 2K25 is no exception. On Wednesday, NBA2K announced the players who will grace the cover of their upcoming game, set for release in September. Three players—two active and one retired—have been selected for this honor.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will be featured on the NBA standard edition cover, while A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will appear on the WNBA standard edition. Both Tatum and Wilson will also be on the All-Star Edition cover. The Hall of Fame Edition will showcase newly inducted Basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter.

These players join a prestigious group of NBA 2K cover athletes, including legends like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Diana Taurasi, Allen Iverson, Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal.

Jayson Tatum: A Well-Deserved Cover Star

At 26, Tatum is having an extraordinary year. After leading the Boston Celtics to the 2024 NBA Championship, he now has the chance to add an Olympic gold medal with Team USA to his achievements. Being named an NBA 2K25 cover athlete is another prestigious addition to his resume.

Tatum has made the All-NBA First Team three seasons in a row and finished in the top six in MVP voting twice in the last three seasons. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, helping the Celtics secure the best record in the NBA.

A’ja Wilson: A Potential Three-Time MVP

Wilson, 27, has already won two WNBA MVP awards (2020 and 2022) and is a dominant force for the Las Vegas Aces. She has finished in the top eight in MVP voting every year of her career and has led her team to back-to-back WNBA championships.

This season, Wilson is on track for her third MVP award, posting career-high numbers with 27.0 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game. The six-foot-four center continues to solidify her legacy as one of the WNBA’s greatest players.

Vince Carter: The Legend Graces the Hall of Fame Edition

Known for his incredible dunks and unparalleled athleticism, Vince Carter has long been considered one of the most electrifying players in NBA history. In 2024, Carter was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, cementing his legacy.

Carter’s 22 seasons in the NBA remain a league record (set to be tied by LeBron James in the upcoming season). The eight-time All-Star scored 25,728 points, placing him 21st on the all-time scoring list. Now, “Vinsanity” has earned his place as a cover athlete for the NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame Edition.

These three athletes—Tatum, Wilson, and Carter—represent the past, present, and future of basketball and are a perfect fit for the iconic NBA 2K cover.
