Paul Mitchell Tasked with Negotiating Three Key Deals for Newcastle United – Report

A recent report suggests that Eddie Howe has requested Paul Mitchell to work on securing new contracts for Sean Longstaff, Fabian Schar, and Dan Burn. Graeme Bailey from HITC reports that Eddie Howe is eager to retain Sean Longstaff, Fabian Schar, and Dan Burn at Newcastle, with all three players facing contract expirations next summer. Howe reportedly wants to secure their futures on Tyneside, which would provide some stability in the squad going forward.

Longstaff, a Newcastle academy graduate, is believed to be keen on a long-term deal to stay with his boyhood club. However, competition from Sandro Tonali and Lewis Miley for the right-sided midfield position could influence the terms offered to him. The club may be cautious in committing to an extended contract given the talent already in the squad. For Schar and Burn, extensions also seem deserved, especially with Schar’s solid form, showing he has much to offer despite his age. Both players are 32, so any new deals might be limited to one-year extensions, reflecting the club’s potential approach to older players nearing the twilight of their careers.
