Gabriel Jesus, who shined during pre-season, sustained an injury that has sidelined him for Arsenal’s last two Premier League games.

The injury came at a tough time for Arsenal, who could have benefited from Jesus’s pace after going down to 10 men against Brighton last weekend.

The bigger concern, though, is the challenging schedule ahead: Arsenal face Tottenham, Atalanta, and Manchester City in the week following the international break. If Jesus remains sidelined, Kai Havertz will face added pressure to step up in his absence.

The positive news for Arsenal fans is that Gabriel Jesus is expected to return for at least some of the upcoming games. Charles Watts shared on his YouTube channel that there’s optimism he might be available after the international break.

“I’ve been told there’s hope that he could potentially be back,” Watts said (via Gooner News). “He’s stepping up his recovery plan.”

While there’s no firm date yet, Watts added, “Over the weekend, someone mentioned the hope is he might join training during the international break and could have a chance for the Spurs match.”

Injuries have been a persistent challenge for Gabriel Jesus since his arrival at Arsenal. Initially praised for sparking the 2022/23 title push, the 27-year-old has since faced frequent setbacks with knee issues and a hamstring injury, causing him to miss considerable game time.

Kai Havertz, meanwhile, has proven to be both productive and dependable. Starting this season with three goal contributions in three games, the German international has also shown impressive durability. Since joining Arsenal, he hasn’t suffered any injury, and across three seasons at Chelsea, he missed only 18 games—most due to Covid-19 or minor illnesses.

Jesus, on the other hand, has missed 17 games in his first season, 16 in his second, and two already in his third. This ongoing pattern makes it difficult for Mikel Arteta to consistently rely on him, even when he’s available.
